HomeProsFinder is a free to use online tool that eases the dubious task of hiring local home service professionals. Incidentally, as local pros compete, users are able to land the best deals.
How do I get started?
Simply create a profile and you can start sending service requests right away. Just let us know the type of work you need done by selecting the category that best matches your needs.
Once you have selected the proper category, you will be given the opportunity to provide a few more details that will ensure you receive the most accurate estimates.
What happens once I post a service request for an estimate?
Your request is then provided to capable service professionals in your surrounding area for the type of job that you specified.
Local professionals, interested in your request, will begin posting their respective estimates to complete your request. Service requests expire 30 days after posting, but users are encouraged to select an estimate within 1 day of posting*.
*A majority of the estimates occur within 24 hours of posting.
Will I get a bunch of phone calls from interested professionals?
No, local pros are not provided your phone number. Their only form of communication is within the HomeProsFinder tool.
Once you’ve selected an estimate, then you and the chosen professional may agree to any form of communication going forward.
How should I go about choosing amongst the estimates I receive?
Each service request is unique and what matters for one request will not matter as much if at all for another. We encourage all of our users to take a look at each professional’s profile that provides an estimate. This step is essential in making sure that your potential selection has the right qualifications that you want in your home service professional such as up to date licenses for the work they’re expected to perform and/or images of prior work.
Why do you ask for my credit card details once I select a home service professional?
This step immediately verifies you as an authentic user for the sake of the service professionals responding to the requests.
We do not charge you. You are not charged unless you are paying an invoice sent to you through our platform by a professional for services rendered.
Note: Upon choosing the service professional with the best estimate to inevitably hire them, users are prompted to save their credit card details
Why does each request contain an area asking what my expectation is?
This is a means to provide transparency to potential service professionals. This required field conveys to potential professionals a sense of the expected quality on the request and garners responses more in line with user expectation.
How do I pay service professionals?
Once you’ve decided on a particular service professional to perform your request. Paying them online through HomeProsFinder is only one of several options. Some professionals will only accept payment through our platform, but it isn’t required. Users are encouraged to follow up on how payment is collected with their chosen professional.
What is HomeProsFinder?
HomeProsFinder operates as the medium of choice to best match the growing population of the less “hands-on” to the local professionals that comprises the increasingly segmented home services industry.
How much does it cost to use?
Commission Based: Professionals are charged a 3.2% commission for all awarded projects. The commission is automatically removed upon receiving payment from the client through the platform.
Monthly or Yearly: Professionals pay either $50/month or $500/year for access.
Can anyone join as a home service professional?
No, HomeProsFinder is currently an invite-only platform as this allows us to insure a high quality population of local pros per area.
What makes us different from the other home service marketplaces?
HomeProsFinder simply makes connecting with home service professionals much more convenient and effective from both our users and professionals perspectives. We understand many users submitting a home service request might be considered a low quality lead as they may not be prepared to hire and are just “price shopping”. We act to accommodate this by requiring users to indicate whether or not they are looking to hire or in the planning phase.
We also help our professionals out by requiring users to provide their expected time of completion as well as the expected level of quality. Knowing this is crucial in putting together a quality estimate.
What is required in my profile to get started?
Before you can provide estimates you will have to complete your profile. The following areas of your profile must be completed before being able to “bid” on any projects:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Company Name
- Number of Employees
- Business Phone Number
- Company Address
- In Business Since
Upon completing these fields it is then essential that all contractors select the type of work they’re licensed for under ‘Subscribe to Job Types‘.
Finally, just add your license details to your Profile if they apply to the job types you’ve selected.
What is actually included in making a "bid" on any particular request?
Each bid contains an area to provide estimated cost, estimated time to complete, and an area to provide additional details.
How should I use the area designated on the bid to "provide additional details"?
No particular service request is like any other. This space is best used to further explain the offer behind your bid. The idea here is to be transparent and not mislead.
For example a contractor might use this space to explain a range of conditions that may affect their bid.
